O The Fool
Impulse drives the open-minded and pure soul on a wonderful flight. He is untouched by knowledge, and has no fear to blind him. Because he has no expectations and nothing to loose, he dares to take the plunge into the deep. No journey begins without taking the first step, have trust that you will be safe when you let your instincts guide you.
I The Magician
With the Magician, first of the major arcana, the magic of existence and evolution begins. He represents the artist, the creator that masters the art of suggestion and illusion. Out of the void he is able to create matter and consciousness like a spectacle of marvels. With light and shadow he creates a world that is not really there, creating a third dimension using only two.
Art is about deception as much as it is about evoking deep thoughts and emotions. Fake and real, shallow and profound.
II The High Priestess
Without darkness, there is no light; existing requires contrast and reflection. The High Priestess is the secret darkness upon which light reflects and shadows become apparent. Shadows that sometimes shed the most light onto a situation.
III The Empress
The Empress is the primordial and eternal mother, in her womb she guards the life force and chaotic order of the universe. Within her all life begins and without her nurturing nothing grows nor blossoms. Her female power and sensual prowess are all consuming, as the paradox of beloved mother and desired lover she traps all men in her embrace.
IV The Emperor
Out of the chaos of nature, the Emperor forges a structured hierarchy. He promotes urbanisation to enhance an ordered patriarchal civilisation. The predictability of authority and discrete discrimination is needed to protect and govern life.
V The Hierophant
The Hierophant connects heaven and earth, matter and spirit as a mediator between the spiritual world and the material world. He doesn't dictate wisdom, but merely filters the divine through his cultural and moral frame so the spiritual and abstract can be seen in a more practical manner.
VI The Lovers
We are raised as individuals, but alone we are not complete. Without a complementary environment nothing blossoms; so let yourself be completed by surrounding yourself with what is truly important to you.True love is a reuniting of two halves, a merging of willing souls who have dared to surrender themselves to each-other.
The lovers is an ode to love, legendary and universal, but always personal and inspiring to those involved. It is a celebration of passion, of feeling like Adam and Eve; the sensual prototypes of all that it means to be a mortal man and woman, created to please and comfort each-other.
VII The Chariot
A bold hero is called for that has the courage and ambition to ride the tides of time and progress and who doesn't fear the unknown. Destiny awaits in the future and the wild ride of the chariot will speed his arrival.
IX The Hermit
What is left when you segregate yourself from social and cultural surroundings, away from all input? What is real is what remains when layers of cultivation are peeled away and nothing remains but the core of ones self. Secluded from all he knows, somewhere between reality and dream, soul and science, memories and destiny, the hermit will discover only he is the key to what is true.
XI Strength
Listen to the roaring of your inner beast and let it strengthen you. Primal forces are an essential part of existence and cannot be eradicated nor should they be suppressed. Cherish and cultivate the wild beast inside you in order to control and harvest its strength.
XII The Hanged One
Do not fear your limitations, accept them and let them transform you; surrendering to the limitations of mortality is the path to understanding and overcoming it. Just pause for a moment and forget all your quests. Sometimes we need to let go of the control in order to find what we are looking for.
XIII Death
The attraction of Death is universal, all that begins must end in order to change and start a new; without transformation, there is no progress. Like a caterpillar transforming into a butterfly, death changes the shape of the soul ultimately and definitely. In an instant a living and conscious individual can make the transition to a decaying carcass, freeing the mysterious life-force in the process.
XV The Devil
Spiritual development is forsaken when the beast takes over and indulges in the pleasures of materialism. Driven by unbridled desire, the devil gets trapped in coils of need and dependance. All balance is lost when the addictive urges of the flesh are all that is lusted after, but one needs to know the magic of the flesh to eventually free the mind.
XVII The Star
The star is the sign in the sky showing that the darkest hours are behind you and the end of the night sea journey is near. In the darkness fears were faced and paradigms shattered, old lives were left behind and old habits broken. You find yourself alone and naked, cleansed and reborn staring up at the vast canopy of heaven. The light is returning, and soon a new day will dawn.
XVIII The Moon
Journey to the darkest places of your self and discover the fantastic landscapes of dreams and illusion. The boundaries between truth and illusion, sane and bizarre fade in the moonlight as the shadows of twilight create confusing visions and fantastical landscapes. Trust your intuition to explore the bizarre without loosing your way.
XXI The Universe
The true face of the universe is dazzling darkness, a reconciled duality of all and nothing, matter and antimatter. It is where everything is at home without existing, becoming whole while disintegrating.
